Hartlepool United have landed Mansfield Town striker Richie Barker for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old hitman has netted 15 times for the Stags this season and has been a long-term transfer target for Pools boss Danny Wilson.

Barker failed to find the net when in-form United defeated Mansfield 1-0 at Field Mill at the weekend, but his performance still impressed Wilson.

"It has been a situation that as been ongoing for maybe eight weeks or so," Wilson told the club's official website.

"But it is something that had to be done professionally and properly between the two clubs and we feel we have done well in ensuring all ends are tied up by January.

"I am delighted to have a player of his experience and calibre and we saw on Saturday why he is a handful for defenders.

"We are defending very well as a team at the moment but he was still a handful for us."
