The Football Association has fined Hartlepool United and Brighton £500 and warned both clubs about their future conduct following incidents during a League One meeting between the teams in October.
Both clubs were charged with failing to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.
The Seagulls won the Victoria Park clash 2-1 but, in a tempestuous end to the encounter, players squared up to each other as they headed for the tunnel at the final whistle.
There had also been a scuffle at the end of the first half just minutes after Hartlepool were reduced to ten men when Willie Boland was sent off for a kick on Dean Cox.
The game had been designed to be a tribute to Pools player Michael Maidens who had died in a car crash one week earlier.
