    Wilson heartened by defeat

    24 Sep 2008 - 12:33:47

Danny Wilson is hoping Hartlepool United can carry their form into the league following Tuesday's narrow Carling Cup defeat at Leeds United.

Pools lost 3-2 at Elland Road on Tuesday evening, but Wilson was heartened by the display from his players.

He told the club's official website: "It was a cracking cup tie in all honesty.

"They put us under a lot of pressure but I thought we were excellent on the counter-attack and could have nicked a couple more goals.

"It was a great effort and the tremendous backing we received from the fans backed that up.

"It's disappointing to lose but we'll go and get the lads up for Saturday now."

Meanwhile, Wilson expects Antony Sweeney to be available for Saturday's trip to Leicester City despite leaving the pitch on Tuesday night with a head injury.

"He couldn't see through his eye so he'd have been running round in circles if he'd stayed on, but I hope that he'll be fit for Saturday," he added.
