We nearly nicked it - Wadsworth
Hartlepool caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth was delighted with his side's resilience and felt they could have snatched all three points in a goalless draw at Brentford. Both sides missed a string of chances to bring spark to the game which was dominated by the two defences and the closest either came to a breakthrough was when Pools defender Gary Liddle fired against the inside of the upright only to see his effort cleared to safety.Wadsworth said: "I was really pleased with the way we defended because we knew that Brentford would put almost constant pressure on us especially from set pieces. They get balls into the dangerous areas, but we always had people in there doing their job."The more the chances went begging the more I thought we were in with a shout of nicking the points and that almost happened when Antony Sweeney ran clear, but shot straight at their keeper. I think he thought their defenders were closer to him than they actually were."That would have been the almost classic ambush, particularly as the game looked more and more like becoming a stalemate."They looked lively when they brought Nicky Forster on near the end and I thought they'd won it when he poked one past the post, but overall I think we were well worth the point and it's a very useful point because not many sides will come here and perform like we did this season."
