Wadsworth hails resolute Pools

Caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth`s fury following the controversial defeat at Colchester was replaced by delight after seeing his Hartlepool team battle to a hard-earned 1-0 victory at Tranmere.Wadsworth`s team lost to a late penalty on Saturday, despite television replays showing that the handball offence took place well outside the area. But Pools bounced back to win at Prenton Park thanks to an own goal from Rovers goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi."We were very resolute and the players were very determined to wipe out the disappointment from Saturday," said Wadsworth. "We felt that if we'd have got two draws from two away games we'd have done alright on the road but three points are better than two."I'm delighted with the way the players really stuck to the task. I felt it wasn't the best game, it wasn't the most free-flowing game but I thought if any football was being played, it was us that played it."We were the better team, we had the most opportunities and a strange goal when it came. I thought we deserved it in the end, we kept pressuring and made the most of our set-pieces."
