Hartlepool scraped past Blue Square Bet North side Vauxhall Motors thanks to a strike from substitute James Brown.Both team had chances in the first half, Pools' Andy Monkhouse forcing a good save from John Ritchie and Andy Nicholas going close for the hosts.
