Turner wants to raise the roof

Hartlepool United boss Chris Turner has called on the club's fans to warm their vocal chords ahead of Tuesday's important League One clash against Gillingham at Victoria Park.

A win over the Gills could see Hartlepool move seven points away from the relegation zone.

But with their midweek opponents at the wrong end of the table themselves, a first away day success of the campaign would see them join Turner's side on 30 points and ease their current predicament.

Speaking to the club's official website, Turner said: "We all know what kind of place Victoria Park can be when the crowd are right behind the team.

''Visiting teams don't like coming and playing here because it's intimidating; that's what we need from our supporters this evening.

"I'm sure the team will respond to that backing and we can get the type of performance that is needed to get us the three points."
