Neither side were at their best in a largely forgettable encounter at Prenton Park on Friday, but the result edges both further clear of the League One relegation zone. Turner, who saw his side thumped 4-0 at Yeovil last weekend, said: "We have stopped the rot with a battling display. I was delighted with the response from the players. "It was a fantastic gutsy performance. I was looking for a response after last Saturday's display and I got one. "I thought we looked comfortable throughout," he continued. "We looked the stronger team in the second half and the team most likely to win the game. They were hanging on at the end. "It is not easy when you have had such a bad run away from home and everyone deserves credit. We had the best chances to win the game."
