Manager Chris Turner warned his Hartlepool United side not to relax despite a crucial 3-2 win at Yeovil Town taking them close to League One safety.
The Pools are now five points clear of the drop zone, but Turner accepts that there is still work to do.
He told The Journal: "The result takes us a major step closer to safety, but we are not there yet. Until we are mathematically safe, we have a battle on our hands.
"We can't afford to relax and think the job is done, because it isn't and too many teams in the past have made that mistake.
"We put in a positive performance and after they went ahead early on, we stayed positive and showed a lot of spirit to come back.
"With a bit more composure, we might have scored more goals."
