    Ten-man Hartlepool hold on

    02 Jan 2010 - 17:18:21

Ten-man Hartlepool United took the spoils against Oldham Athletic thanks to first-half goals from Ritchie Jones and Andy Monkhouse.

Peter Hartley saw red for the home side with seven minutes to go and Oldham drew one back thanks to substitute Pawel Abbott, but it wasn't enough.

In the only other League One game to survive the weather, Norwich edged past Wycombe at Adams Park thanks to a second half goal from Korey Smith.

The three points mean that the Canaries leapfrog Charlton into second spot in the league, while Wycombe remain second from bottom.

In a curtailed League Two programme, Northampton defeated Bournemouth thanks to two goals in the first 16 minutes.

Luke Guttridge opened the scoring for the visitors before Ryan Gilligan doubled their advantage just 11 minutes later.

Cheltenham came from a goal down to earn a point at Bradford thanks to a second-half penalty from Justin Richards.

James O'Brien got the first goal of the game before Steve Williams was shown red for a second bookable offence and Richards converted the ensuing penalty.

Despite being reduced to 10 men for half an hour, Shrewsbury held on to a 1-0 lead to take all three points against Chesterfield.

Dave Hibbert was the only name on the scoresheet as Dean Holden was shown a straight red on the hour mark.

Grimsby were denied a first win in 16 league games thanks to an injury-time penalty from Ryan Lowe.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro scored the first goal of the game after an hour of play to give Grimsby a narrow advantage but they couldn't hold on to take all three points.
