Power predicts strong Pools

New Hartlepool United signing Alan Power has set his sights on the play-offs ahead of the new season.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined Danny Wilson's side on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest earlier this month, but believes his new team-mates have what it takes to mount a serious promotion challenge this year.

"I would say we can definitely push for the play-offs and that will be the first thing on our minds, if not automatic promotion," he told the Hartlepool Mail.

"If we get a good start to the league we can push on from there.

"The manager said we will be pushing for promotion this year and I remember watching Hartlepool last year and they were a very good passing side.

"There were a couple of clubs that showed an interest but Hartlepool put a deal on the table and I was ecstatic to be honest."
