Pools snare keeper Flinders

Former Crystal Palace shot-stopper Scot Flinders is the man Hartlepool United have chosen to solve their goalkeeping problems.

Pools released both their goalkeepers, Arran Lee-Barrett and Jan Budtz, last month before failing in an attempt to bring Dimi Konstantopoulos back to the club.

Flinders, who spent the first half of last term on loan at Falkirk before being released by Palace at the end of the campaign, is looking forward to life in the north-east.

He told Pools' official website: "It's been a long summer since I left Palace, but I've had interest and I'm glad to be signing here. It's a big step for me to move on in my career.

"The manager used to be a goalkeeper himself which can only help and it's a chance to move back up north.

"It's going to be a tough league, but we have something to work with now. I'm looking forward to the new season."
