Hartlepool United have released Arran Lee-Barrett, Jan Budtz, Jamie McCunnie, Joe Tait and Martin Young after escaping relegation from League One on the last day of the season. New contracts have been offered to Gary Liddle, Michael Mackay, Andy Monkhouse, Michael Nelson, Matty Robson and Matty Tymon. Director of sport, Chris Turner, told the club's official website: "It isn't a nice day when you have to let players go, but I think it's pretty obvious from how last season went that we need to rebuild. "I know some people will look at the list and ask why certain players are still at the club but we still need a first-team squad for next season. "I have ideas about some of the players we're keeping that will see them improve as players and also improve their contribution to the bigger picture at Hartlepool United."
