Op woe for Porter

Hartlepool United striker Joel Porter faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being forced to have a knee operation. The 27-year-old Australian missed most of last season with knee ligament damage and was forced to have three operations on the problem. "We don't know yet how long he's going to be out for," Pools boss Danny Wilson told the Northern Echo. "It could be one month, two months or whatever. It's too early to say. "It's not the same knee he was troubled with last season - is that a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. "Maybe he's overworked the other side to compensate for his problems last season. But I don't think it's a general problem with his knees, it's down to pure bad luck. "And that's the type of luck we've all been having of late, things haven't gone for us at all.''
