Monkhouse expected better

10 March 2009 02:48
Hartlepool United midfielder Andy Monkhouse has admitted that the team has under-achieved this season. Pools are currently eight points clear of the relegation zone but Monkhouse believes that the current squad is good enough to be challenging for a play-off place. He told the Hartlepool Mail: "The league is a crazy one and everybody beats everybody. "We could have easily won on Saturday against a side second in the league. Peterborough have got a lot of good players but we did ourselves justice. "You've got to take the plusses out of that. The ones who are looking to get in to the Championship, we're nearly as good as them. It's been a disappointing season."
