Larkin handed Pools contract

Hartlepool United have signed striker Colin Larkin on a one-year contract.

The 27-year-old former Chesterfield and Northampton Town frontman has impressed during pre-season with the Pools and has earned a permanent stay at Victoria Park.

Boss Chris Turner told the club's official website: "By bringing Colin in, it adds to the quality strikers that we have already in place.

"Colin can hold the ball up for us, enabling the team as a whole to play better football.

"If the ball isn't being held up then you end up knocking balls up high and that isn't pretty to watch.

"But if it is held up this brings other players into play, gets the ball on the ground and helps the team to play better football."
