In-form youngster James Brown faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury in Hartlepool's victory over Luton Town on Saturday.
The 21-year-old frontman suffered strained ligaments in his right knee when he attempted to shoot on goal and was subsequently replaced by David Foley.
Speaking to the club's official website, manager Danny Wilson said: "It's bad news for us, no doubt about it.
"But the way we have to look at it is that it's a chance for someone else to come in and stake their claim for a place in the side.
"We've been told it's four to six weeks he'll be out and it's disappointing obviously but we have to get on with it."
