Fringe players must start pushing - Barron
Published : 02 Sep 2010 12:00:37

Hartlepool reserve-team boss Micky Barron has urged the club's fringe players to improve if they are to challenge for first-team places.Under the stewardship of caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth, Pools have been unchanged for their last six games, while the second string produced a lacklustre performance as they went down 2-0 to Gateshead on Wednesday."At the moment it's just too easy for Mick to keep picking the players that are in the first team," Barron told the club's official website."It's up to the players on the outside of the first team to lift themselves for these reserve games and prove they are worth a place in the side."I think some of the players need to have a look at themselves and ask if they are doing enough to challenge."
