Daly boost for Pools

Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson has praised the decision to rescind the red card handed out to Jon Daly in last week's defeat at Chester.

The club's leading marksman was adjudged to have caught City's David Artell with an elbow and was sent off halfway through the first period.

Pools successfully appealed the decision and the eight-goal striker has been cleared to play in the weekend clash with local rivals Darlington.

"We are delighted that the FA saw the same as we saw - absolutely nothing," Wilson told the club's official website.

"You don't take anything for granted when it goes to an appeal, but we felt we had a very strong case in defending Jon and it's great news that he's available for the weekend.

"We lost three points on Friday night and that's something they can't replace but sometimes you have to be thankful for small mercies."
