Brown suffers return nerves

Hartlepool star James Brown admitted to feeling nervous after making his comeback from a nine-month injury absence.

The 22-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament injury and made his long awaited return in the 2-1 victory over Gateshead on Wednesday night in their latest pre-season friendly.

After coming off the bench and playing for 25 minutes, Brown will now step us his training in order to be fit for the start of the new season.

Speaking to Hartlepool Mail, Brown said: "Yesterday morning was the first time in ages that I had woke up and felt nervous about playing a game.

"It's probably the first time I've ever been like that. Hopefully now that's out the way, the nerves will go.

"There were no thoughts of the injury at the back of my mind at all. The first thing I did was get clattered in the air."
