Hartlepool United's injury problems have taken a turn for the worse after it was revealed that Willie Boland faces a spell on the sidelines after being forced to have surgery on a long-standing knee problem. The 33-year-old midfielder has not played since spraining knee ligaments against Stockport County in August. "He's had to have the surgery due to the continuation of symptoms that have failed to settle down," confirmed head physio James Haycock. "The advice we were given from the specialist was to try and avoid going down this route but in the end there has been no alternative unfortunately."
