Ban blow for Humphreys

Skipper Ritchie Humphreys misses out through suspension for the first time in his career when Hartlepool take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.Humphreys was shown a straight red for serious foul play in Saturday's goalless FA Cup tie with Vauxhall Motors, but the club appealed on the grounds that the veteran midfielder had legally challenged goalkeeper Scott Tynan for a 50/50 ball. However, the appeal was unsuccessful and Humphreys now starts a three-game ban - the first time he has been suspended in a 15-year career.Caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth has fitness concerns over striker Colin Larkin, who is struggling with a back problem, while defender Peter Hartley has been unwell and could miss the Northern Area quarter final.Strikers Adam Boyd (back) and James Brown (ankle) missed the cup tie with Vauxhall and remain doubtful.
