West tells Clark to win place back
Clark, who was a regular in the centre of Pools' midfield last season but is just as comfortable at the heart of defence, has recovered from surgery on a hernia problem and has given Chris Turner a selection headache.
West told the Hartlepool Mail: "Anybody who is out of the team, you want to be up for the challenge to get back into it.
"Ben will certainly be up for it but it's testament to Sam Collins and Gary Liddle because they have been excellent as a pairing.
Anybody who has been watching our games can only have been pleased with those two.
"Competition like that can only be good for the football club and Ben knows the task in hand."
