We were below par - Wadsworth
Hartlepool manager Mick Wadsworth admitted his side were second-best after they were thumped 4-0 at Oldham.
Aidan White, Chris Taylor, Cedric Evina and a first Oldham goal from substitute Reuben Reid condemned Pools to a fourth loss in six games.
Wadsworth said: "At 1-0 we were in the game and we started the second half brightly but in both halves Oldham's first entry into our box brought them a goal.
"You have to give Oldham great credit because they played very sensibly and waited for their chances but we went a bit hit-and-hope and defensively we went to pieces a bit and that's very disappointing.
"We`ve had some great results this season so it's like Rudyard Kipling - you face those two imposters the same.
"We are on a poor run at the moment so thank goodness we had a good run before that because otherwise we would be in a right pickle."
