Wadsworth wants Pools to finish with a flourish

Hartlepool first-team coach Mick Wadsworth was not too downbeat despite seeing his side suffer their first defeat in three games, a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Former Hartlepool favourite Tommy Miller scored from the penalty spot before Gary Madine netted to seal victory for the Owls. Wadsworth is determined to finish the season off as well as possible, even though they have nothing left to play for. "It's not a disgrace to come to Hillsborough and get beat as they`ve got some damn good players, and I think their budget will be slightly ahead of ours," he said. "We`ve got four games left, two of which are at home, and the integrity of the league is important because Tranmere are fighting to get results to survive and Bournemouth and Southampton are near the top, so we have to do our best to try and get as many wins as we can." Wadsworth added: "It wasn't a great game between one team desperate to get a win and another looking to maintain a decent finish to the season. Obviously their first goal just before half-time was disappointing because of how easily Neil Mellor was able to get into our box from a throw-in, when we just needed to run the clock down."
