Hartlepool caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth hopes to bolster his injury-hit squad by dipping into the loan market. Pools are currently hampered by having Ritchie Humphreys and James Brown, along with goalkeeping duo Scott Flinders and Andy Rafferty, sidelined through injury. However, Wadsworth is hoping to acquire some players on loan deals, with a goal-scoring striker and a defender top of his wishlist. "We've got a few irons in the fire and hopefully in the next week or so we can do something," he told the club's official website. "I'd like to think we can get a defender in, but we also need someone who is going to get us some goals and those two types of player are the priority. Hopefully, if we can bring the players in it will show the fans that we are trying to improve and take things forward." Meanwhile, Wadsworth has revealed the club are in negotiations with Blackburn to extend Jake Kean's loan deal which is set to run out on October 9.
