Wadsworth salutes hot-shot Madine

Hartlepool caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth conceded Carlisle hat-trick hero Gary Madine gave his defenders a torrid time in a 4-0 home defeat. Lubo Michalik opened the scoring for the Cumbrians at Victoria Park before Madine struck twice in 10 minutes in the first half and again midway through the second period. Wadsworth said: "When the second goal came again, they hadn't had a chance in our box. I have to say their strikers killed us, absolutely killed us. "I know Madine, my son looks after him, I wish he had got him to us. We should have done better with him though. We had good possession, lose it, had two centre-halves dealing with Madine and he still rattled them. "Injuries are catching up to us, no doubt. The back four work hard in training, the amount of time we work on it and look how tight we look away from home. "For all my career, I've never been at this point. Same system, so organised, away from home, but playing at home we look a soft touch."
