Wadsworth in Monkhouse tribute

Hartlepool first-team coach Mick Wadsworth paid a rich tribute to in-form striker Andy Monkhouse after he scored twice in the 3-0 home win over Brentford. Monkhouse opened the scoring after 36 minutes when his shot crashed off the underside of the bar and then grabbed his fifth goal in six games after the break. Gary Liddle drilled home from 12 yards late on but it was Monkhouse who seized centre stage. Wadsworth said: "Andy Monkhouse got two, he's a handful, I've always fancied him as a striker and he's good in the air. "He has a lot of good ingredients to be a striker - good touch, good ability and holds the ball up well." Wadsworth was delighted to record victory with such a comfortable winning margin, adding: "I've not been this this situation that often, we earn points, we earn goals and it doesn't come easy for us."
