Wadsworth hails Pools spirit

Hartlepool caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth thought his side showed tremendous character after coming behind to beat Walsall 2-1. Julian Gray gave the visitors a ninth-minute lead but Antony Sweeney levelled a minute before the interval and Andy Monkhouse headed home in the 56th minute to complete the comeback. Wadsworth said: "Both teams were desperate for a win. We showed our character, we have been unlucky on a couple of occasions, poor at times as well. But I felt at other times we have been terrific, away from home especially. "We were solid and we needed to be. It carried us home. "I would like to thank our fans, they have been fantastic in a tough start. We have given them some damned good football, but some bad results - but they have been very patient with us. "There is a togetherness here and it's evident at times, they were terrific. It's a good boost for everyone, a massive one. It gets a problem off our back."
