Wadsworth hails Pools response

Hartlepool caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth was delighted with his side's response to their crushing defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday as they thumped Northampton 4-0. Pools lost 5-0 to Wednesday on Saturday, but four goals in 10 second-half minutes against the Cobblers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy helped them hit back in style. "We got Saturday out of the system," Wadsworth said. "They weren't desperately bad on Saturday and that may sound stupid, but we weren't comprehensively bad and responded well. "It's great to score goals and spread them around, it gives us good confidence. It was a good performance, top-class and the football we played was excellent. "I'm pleased for the players with the response from the weekend. We put the chances away with good finishes all night and gave nothing away at the other end."
