Wad a poor show

Mick Wadsworth admitted poor defending cost Hartlepool after they suffered a 5-0 battering at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday at Victoria Park. Wednesday went in front when Paul Murray put through his own net before goals from Giles Coke, Neil Mellor, Marcus Tudgay and Clinton Morrison rounded off an emphatic victory for the Owls. Pools boss Wadsworth said: "They clicked into gear at our expense, in terms of simple defensive issues. "Simple things like not clearing, or getting the ball beyond the midfield when we were in danger. It's disappointing as last week they took the plaudits in playing excellent at Yeovil. Here, two down after 10 minutes and it's tough. "Even in the second half we had more possession and set-plays than them, but we conceded really poor goals. "Every point this team gets, we have to earn it and we know it. We have to be at it non-stop to get anything out of the game and it's tough."
