Turner: Pools must be more clinical

Pools suffered their fifth home defeat of the campaign after first-half goals from Peter Sweeney and Adam Proudlock had put the Mariners in control. Grimsby played out the closing stages with 10 men after Danny Boshell was dismissed for a second booking. But the closest Hartlepool went to getting a goal back came when Adam Boyd's shot was tipped onto the crossbar by Nick Colgan. Turner said: "We had numerous chances and the most possession we have had at home for a long time, but we tried to overplay and get the perfect goal. "It was a bit like at Exeter when we had plenty of chances. Some players have been given a chance, you have to use your squad, but the ball wouldn't run kindly at times and others didn't shoot and opted to pass instead. "We put balls in the area and plenty of crosses without getting on the end of them."
