Boss Chris Turner thought Hartlepool`s opening pre-season friendly against Almere City was a good exercise despite losing 1-0 to the Dutch side. Karim Fachtali's first-half goal gave the hosts victory as Hartlepool struggled to create chances. "The game went pretty much the way we expected it to go," Turner told the club`s official website. "We mixed and matched with the team in terms of swapping players over at half-time and there was some rustiness there. "Dutch sides are always very good technically and unless you play someone of a really poor standard there are never going to be a lot of chances. "The result and performance are pretty immaterial really. It was all about getting the boys here and giving them a run-out and chance to play against teams they wouldn`t normally come up against."
