Turner delivers stark warning

Hartlepool's director of sport Chris Turner has reiterated the urgent need for an influx of new faces at Victoria Park following the side's pre-season defeat at the hands of Northern Counties League outfit Garforth Town. Turner has conceded that if the club fails to bring in new players before the start of the new season, then it will be another relegation scrap for the League One side. Turner, who will oversee a strong Hartlepool side at Whitley Bay on Wednesday night, is desperate to add to his squad. Speaking to the Hartlepool Mail, Turner said: "We need some players at this football club. We just managed to stay in League One last season with this squad of players minus seven players. "That tells its own story. "In my opinion, we need to bring in four players who are good quality players. We're in League One, we want to stay there and we want to move up. But the players who played last (Tuesday) night, on that performance, aren't good enough to sustain Hartlepool United in League One."
