Sweeney on song for Pools

Antony Sweeney's second career hat-trick helped Hartlepool to a 4-2 win against Yeovil and booked them a place in the third round of the FA Cup. Pools comfortably saw off the Glovers in the end - but they had a scare after falling two goals behind in the opening half an hour. First Andy Williams drilled in from 12 yards after goalkeeper Jake Kean had saved from Dean Bowditch, before Ed Upson`s low strike went in off the inside of a post. Shocked into action, Hartlepool were level before the interval. Evan Horwood's deep free-kick in the 35th minute was headed down by Sam Collins for Sweeney to knock the ball over the line. And five minutes later, Collins again headed a Horwood dead ball down for the midfielder to poach his second of the night. Sweeney - who spooned an early second-half hat-trick chance over - turned provider after 49 minutes. He broke down the left and crossed for Ritchie Humphreys to take off and, with his back to goal, spectacularly send an overhead kick into the net. The pair linked up again 10 minutes later, Humphreys flicking the ball on for Sweeney to charge into the area and finish low across Sullivan.
