High-flying Sheffield Wednesday had to settle for a point at home to Hartlepool in a 2-2 draw.

After Peter Hartley gave Hartlepool the lead, Jermaine Johnson and Gary Madine score to put Wednesday ahead before Antony Sweeney struck a late equaliser.

In an even first half, Hartlepool keeper Scott Flinders kept out efforts from Rob Jones and Danny Baath while Madine steered the ball wide from close range.

Hartley escaped with a yellow card towards the end of the half when he brought down Madine who was threatening to burst into the area. And it was Hartley who put the visitors in front two minutes after the re-start when he met Evan Horwood's corner with a firm header.

A superb individual goal from Jermaine Johnson, who came on as a half-time substitute, levelled the scores in the 58th minute. Johnson ran at the Hartlepool defence before beating Flinders with a low, angled shot.

Madine put Wednesday ahead with a first-time shot after an attempted clearance went straight to him, but Sweeney equalised in the 87th minute with a neat lob.
