Pools waiting on Brown

Hartlepool caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth is sweating on the fitness of forward James Brown ahead of the trip to MK Dons. Brown was substituted with an ankle injury after going down under a heavy challenge during the 4-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Northampton on Tuesday. Back-up goalkeeper Andy Rafferty is waiting for the results of X-rays on a hand injury, meaning youngster Liam Mooney has been placed on stand-by. Ritchie Humphreys and Fabian Yantorno are hoping to push their way into Wadsworth's starting line-up, which has remained unchanged for the past six games. The duo completed an hour when they turned out for Pools' second string against Gateshead in midweek as they continue to build fitness following substitute appearances in the first team's previous two outings. Defender Neil Austin is still a week away from action following ankle ligament damage.
