Pools to scrap Friday night games

Pools have held several league games a season ahead of the main weekend schedule in the past few years and have benefited from an increased attendances and a livelier atmosphere at Victoria Park. However, feedback from fans has suggested that the popularity of the early games is waning and the club has subsequently scrapped them. "We've listened to supporters on this subject and it came through loud and clear that playing these Friday night games was an idea that had run its course," chief executive Russ Green told the club's official website. "When we started doing it I think it was a bit of a novelty factor and we enjoyed some great nights, both in terms of results and attendances. "However, attendances at these fixtures have now dropped off and we understand that some fans travel long distances and such games are often not ideal."
