Pools cast eye over Uruguayan

Hartlepool have handed a trial to former Hibernian midfielder Fabian Yantorno. The 27-year-old Uruguayan will link up with new Pools first-team coach Mick Wadsworth for the third time in his career after playing under him at Gretna and Chester. Yantorno, who holds an Italian passport, joined Gretna in 2007 impressing in his 21 appearances for the club before suffering a severe knee injury. After completing his rehabilitation at Hibs he joined the Easter Road side on a free in August 2008 but was released and re-joined Wadsworth at Chester. However, he failed to make an appearance after a recurrence of his knee problem and left the club at the start of last season.
