The duo both played the full 90 minutes in Saturday's final pre-season friendly at Mansfield, with Larkin scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory. Right-back Haslam was released by Bury in the summer, while striker Larkin is also a free agent after leaving relegated Northampton. Pools boss Chris Turner told the Sunderland Echo: "Those two boys will add something to this playing squad without doubt. They'd definitely improve us. "Stevie can play in a number of positions, sweeper behind two centre-halves, central midfield as a holding player and, as we saw on Saturday, he can play right-back. He's comfortable on the ball, he doesn't panic, he talks, has vast experience and he's very interesting. "I've known Colin since he was 15 and I know what he can do. I think in a group of strikers, he would be an excellent addition to the strikeforce."
