Turner had highlighted the full-back positions as top priorities this summer and made steps to address the problem by signing Darlington's Neil Austin last month. He was then on the verge of completing a deal for an unnamed left-back on Tuesday, believed to be Stockport's Michael Rose, before the deal fell through. "I had a left-back virtually signed up until late on Tuesday night," Turner told the Sunderland Echo. "But that has fallen through so I will be looking to bring through a left-back in the coming days."
