Pools appeal Ritchie red

Hartlepool have launched an appeal against Ritchie Humphreys' red card in Saturday's goalless draw with Vauxhall Motors. Humphreys was dismissed after he was involved in a tackle with Motors goalkeeper Scott Tynan which looked like a 50-50 battle for a loose ball. After viewing video footage of the incident, Pools still believe the midfielder had every right to challenge for the ball and abided by the laws of the game in doing so. Pools are now waiting for a response from the Football Association after lodging their appeal against the dismissal. If the appeal is unsuccessful, Humphreys will serve a three-match ban which will be the first time he has missed a game through suspension in his career.
