Notts County 3-0 Hartlepool: Report

03 January 2011 18:14
Magpies continue fine form Notts County extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 3-0 win over Hartlepool who missed out on a sixth straight win. Pools' Antony Sweeney fired a dipping shot off-target before Thomas Ince opened the scoring in the 44th minute. Craig Westcarr outmuscled Hartlepool skipper Neil Austin and fed Ince who controlled well before firing into the roof of the net. Hartlepool's best chance of an equaliser came when Evan Horwood's excellent crossfield ball led to Leon McSweeney cutting inside and firing over. But County settled the game in the 70th minute when Ben Davies' precise cross found Lee Miller, who headed in from close range. Nine minutes later the Magpies completed the scoring in style when Miller's backheel saw Neal Bishop square the ball to Westcarr, who dummied a shot to create space before hammering home.
