Monkhouse out against Cumbrians

The combative winger was booked for the 10th time this season during Saturday's disappointing 2-0 defeat to the Terriers and must now serve a two-game ban.

Colin Larkin and Ritchie Humphreys are expected to battle it out to replace Monkhouse on the left.

James Brown made a welcome return as a second-half substitute against the Terriers, coming on with 20 minutes remaining after a lengthy absence with a knee problem, but the forward is unlikely to be risked from the start.

The defeat to Town means Pools have won just two of their last 15 games and leaves them perilously close to the League One drop zone.
