Monkhouse makes Pools pledge
The 28-year-old was out of contract this summer but director of sport Chris Turner has persuaded him to stay at Victoria Park.
However Matty Robson has rejected a deal and will now leave the club after seven years.
Turner said: "The club made Matty Robson a deal which we think is fair and he has turned it down. He feels he deserves something else so Matty has decided he wants to leave."
Turner also confirmed that the club have yet to hear back from Michael Nelson and Gary Liddle over their contract offers.
