Monkhouse desperate for more signings

Striker Andy Monkhouse is frustrated at the lack of signings made by Hartlepool this summer. The 29-year-old, who scored nine goals for Pools last season, feels his club need new players to compete successfully with other squads this season. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't want any new signings. I think it is a bit of a worry. You turn on Sky and teams are signing all these players," Monkhouse told the Mail. "I've seen a lot of League Two teams and League One teams who don't get the 20,000 attendances, signing players. "I thought we'd have signed a few players but it has not happened yet. I think if you asked the gaffer, he'd want a few signings so hopefully we can get a few before Saturday."
