Luscombe: Wadsworth is father figure

Hartlepool's new signing Nathan Luscombe has revealed Mick Wadsworth played a major part in his decision to sign on at Victoria Park. The highly-rated 21-year-old, who had made one first-team appearance for Sunderland before being released this season, was being courted by a number of clubs in England and Scotland but revealed Wadsworth persuaded him his future lies with Pools. "I've only been here a few weeks but Mick is already like a father figure to me," Luscombe told the Hartlepool Mail. "He's been great with me. As soon as I found out I was getting released from Sunderland he was on the phone and said `come down and train with us'. "And I've loved it. Mick seems like the sort of manager who will put an arm around you but will give you a rollicking if you need one as well, and that appeals to me. "I'm just absolutely delighted to sign here because I've felt at home the past few weeks and the lads have been terrific with me. "It's a good, steady local club and they've done brilliantly this season - I honestly didn't have to think twice when I knew they wanted to sign me."
