Left-back is a problem - Turner

Ritchie Humphreys, who started his career as a striker before dropping into midfield, has been deployed at left-back by Pools for a number of seasons now, but Turner feels he can be better utilised elsewhere. Huddersfield youngster Joe Skarz was brought into the club on loan during the January transfer window after a deal for Manchester City youngster Ryan McGivern fell through at the last minute. And Turner is keen to solve an ongoing problem at the end of the campaign. He told the club's official website: "Left-back is an area we are looking at which is why I brought Joe Skarz in. "Ritchie Humphreys was pigeon-holed and put in there and I think he suffered because of it. When I took over, I wanted to get him out of there but getting another left-back who is better than Ritchie was not easy. "We tried to get a Northern Irish international in from Manchester City (McGivern) and we were within hours of him arriving when a training ground injury to Wayne Bridge meant the move was stopped. We would have looked to keep him on and hopefully extend it for a season-long loan next year as well. This is an area we are looking at but you can't just pluck players out of the air."
