Late joy for Wadsworth

Caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth was naturally delighted to see Hartlepool clinch a share of the spoils against Dagenham when it looked like the match had slipped beyond his side. The Daggers were heading for a 1-0 victory courtesy of Peter Hartley`s 49th-minute own goal. But in the fifth minute of injury time it was left for Mark Arber to deflect the ball past a stranded Tony Roberts to ensure it ended all square at Victoria Road. "I'm pleased the players have got something out of a game that could easily have got away from us, because it was that type of tough fighting, horrible game. It was about spirit and all those other things," he said. "It will be interesting to get the stats and see how much it swung back into our favour in the second half because they were well in front at half-time. "We talked about it and said that if we carried on with the way we were going then we were going to lose the game. There was not enough room, the ball was in the air too often and it's a really lively pitch. It was difficult to get it down and play and so we had to change and it worked well. We gave them a bit of their own medicine. "It was one of those games where you think `will it ever happen?' and I'm sure all of us thought that, but it's great to get that goal."
