Jones withdraws transfer request

The midfielder had asked to leave Victoria Park only last week but has now had a change of heart and committed his future to the League One club. He explained his decision on the club's official website, saying: "I just want to let people know that me putting a transfer request in was to do with off-field matters that were affecting me. "I think towards the end of last season things were getting to me and perhaps at times I carried that frustration on to the pitch with me. What I did last week was a result of that and looking back I now know that it was a rash decision on my part. "I've managed to get my head round things now and I want everyone to know that I am extremely happy to be playing for Hartlepool United and I am fully committed to the club." Meanwhile, young striker Michael Mackay has joined Blue Square North side Gateshead on a half-season loan deal.
